Cricket Cage or Futsal Court: Which Should You Book?
Indoor cricket cage vs futsal court — the differences in surface, group size, session length and price, and how to choose the right one for your game in Sri Lanka.
Book an indoor cricket cage when you want to bat, bowl and practise with a small group, and a futsal court when you want a fast five-a-side football game with a bigger crew. They're different spaces for different games: a cage is an enclosed net built to keep the ball in play for cricket, while a futsal court is an open playing surface for football. Here's how to pick.
What's the difference between a cricket cage and a futsal court?
A cricket cage is fully netted with a true pitch surface, sized for one batter facing bowling or a machine. A futsal court is open, larger, and marked for five-a-side football on hard court or turf. You can't really play cricket on a futsal court or football in a cage — the space decides the game.
How many players does each suit?
- Cricket cage: best for 2–6 — a batter, a few bowlers, someone with the machine.
- Futsal court: best for 10–12 so you get five-a-side with rolling substitutions. Match the space to your group and nobody stands around.
How long should I book?
Cricket net sessions are commonly booked in 60-minute blocks; futsal games usually run 90 minutes to make a full match worthwhile. Check the venue's slot length when you book.
Which is cheaper?
In Colombo (2026), indoor cricket cages start around LKR 2,500/hour and futsal courts around LKR 3,000/hour off-peak, both with a ~LKR 500 evening surcharge. Split across your group, either is affordable — see the price index.
